A joint operation by the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate (Dia) of Salerno shook three municipalities in Cilento in the early hours of this morning.
The raids, conducted in Torchiara, Capaccio Paestum, but also Terni, Baronissi and Sulmona, led to the execution of a precautionary custody order issued by the Court of Salerno, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office - District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Salerno.
Ten people ended up in the sights of the police: some were taken to prison, others placed under house arrest.
The defendants are accused, to varying degrees, of serious crimes: from political-mafia vote-trading to attempted murder aggravated by mafia methods, from extortion with mafia methods to the possession, carrying and sale of weapons of war and common firearms, up to personal aiding and abetting.
The operation, coordinated by the operational section of the DIA, represents a hard blow to the criminal networks that intertwine politics and crime, confirming the authorities' commitment to fighting organized crime rooted in the territories involved.
