Youth and Sexuality: A Worrying Analysis
On the occasion of World AIDS Day, new alarming data have emerged on the topic of youth sexuality in Italy. According to the VII edition of the observatory 'Youth and sexuality', edited by Durex in collaboration with Skuola.net, ignorance and misinformation are still widespread among young people.
Lack of Knowledge About Sexually Transmitted Infections
The survey, conducted among 15.000 young people aged 11 to 24, revealed that 1 in 2 lacks adequate knowledge about sexually transmitted infections. This underscores the need for greater sexual health education in schools and communities.
Insufficient Condom Use
Another critical aspect that emerged from the research concerns the use of condoms. Less than 1 in 2 young people uses this fundamental tool for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies. This risky behavior highlights the urgency of more effective and widespread information campaigns.
It is worrying to see that so many young people know nothing about sexually transmitted infections. This article makes us think about how important sexual education is in schools. We need more information and support for young people.
