The long criminal proceedings arising from the failure of Mario Coppola Srl, declared by the Court of Napoli with sentence no. 27 of 12 February 2020.The company, with headquarters in Mugnano di Napoli, had been operating since 1992 in the wholesale sector of electrical and electronic goods, and according to the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, had accumulated debts of almost 3 million euros.
The bankruptcy involving the company's shareholders and liquidator, accused of having caused significant damage to creditors, and in particular to the treasury, through fraudulent management of the company's assets.
In December 2022, at the request of the investigating prosecutor, the Court of Naples sentenced all the defendants in the first instance to two years of imprisonment each for fraudulent bankruptcy.
The charges against the defendants included concealing part of the company's assets, diverting company assets at prices below their market value and manipulating financial statements.
Furthermore, the defendants were accused of having destroyed or concealed the company's accounting records, making it impossible to correctly reconstruct the economic situation of Coppola Mario Srl and preventing the verification of company debts and credits.
Following the first-instance ruling, the defendants' defense, represented by lawyers Giacarlo De Angelis, Raffaele Ciardiello and Domenico Iodice, filed an appeal.
On November 15, 2024, at the hearing of the appeal trial, Mario Coppola's heirs agreed to a reduced sentence of 1 year in prison each, while the liquidator of the company was sentenced in the ordinary way to 1 year and 4 months in prison.

the sentence was a bit too severe in my opinion, but there are many things that I don't know well. the management of the assets was very complicated and you can't understand everything from the newspapers. let's hope that on appeal things can change
