A few hours from derby of the Mole, Turin was the scene of violent clashes between Juventus and Torino fans. During the night between Friday and Saturday, groups of ultras clashed in the Gran Madre area, a prime area in the city's foothills, transformed into a battlefield with sticks, straps and belts. The clashes occurred around 1:00 a.m., in an atmosphere already made tense by chants, smoke bombs and torches lit in the streets of via Villa della Regina and via Lanfranchi.
According to initial investigations, the clash between the two factions was planned on social media in the hours before, organizing a real "manhunt" in view of the derby. The violent brawl led to the arrest of a Juventus fan and caused several injuries, fortunately without anyone in serious condition.
The scenes of guerrilla warfare were filmed by some residents with their phones and later shared on social media. In the videos, a person can be seen collapsed on the ground near the pedestrian crossing, evidence of the brutality of the clash that involved about fifty people. The Digos identified and began investigations into about fifteen participants, many of whom were hooded to avoid being recognized by surveillance cameras. After the intervention of the police, several sticks and clubs used during the brawl were seized.
