On November 16, in the context of Area Nord in Festival 2024, an event dedicated to contemporary dance will be held at the Teatro Area Nord in Naples. The public will have the opportunity to attend the performances of the Borderline and Petranura companies, which will present two works inspired by the theme of freedom.
Article Key Points
Romeo e Giulietta
The evening will begin with “Romeo and Juliet” by the Borderlinedanza company. Under the guidance of Claudio Malangone, with the contribution of dramaturg Gaia Clotilde Chernetich, dancers Adriana Cristiano and Luigi Aruta will bring the eternal Shakespearean myth to life. The performance explores the recognition of love as a complex ritual, where desire, consent and idealization mix with the social rules imposed by families. In this representation, love becomes a symbolic challenge, a search for freedom beyond family boundaries.
Get Up
Afterwards, the audience will see “Get Up,” choreographed by Salvatore Romania and Laura Odierna. Dancers Francesco Bax, Caterina Lanzafame, and Konstyantyn Hryhor'yev will perform to the music of Mahler. This choreographic work is a profound investigation into existential questions, such as the purpose of life and the search for true freedom. “Get Up” encourages one to rise above difficulties to explore an invisible world of forces and energies, accessible only through intuition and spirit.
Support and patronage
The cultural initiative “Area Nord in Festival 2024” benefits from the support of the Municipality of Naples, through its Department of Tourism.
