A new episode of violence has hit the prison of Benevento, where a agent of the penitentiary police was attacked by a inmate.
In the afternoon, a thirty-year-old North African attempted to injure the officer using a rudimentary awl. The prisoner, already known for similar behavior, continues to create disorder within the prison facility, raising the debate on his permanence.
GovernmentenutoVincenzo Santoriello of the CON.SI.PE. union believes that the Government must address the management of non-EU prisoners, whose propensity to not respect prison rules leads to frequent critical events.
Luigi Castaldo, vice president of the same union, highlights the risks for the safety of the staff and proposes the adoption of non-lethal control tools, such as the taser. Both ask for effective measures to ensure that dangerous prisoners are expatriated.
The regional secretary of Campania, Tommaso De Lia, and the deputy Pina Razzano, underline the need to immediately transfer the prisoner to avoid further serious crimes. The timely intervention of other agents allowed to avoid greater damage to the attacked personnel.
