It reopened in December after more than 30 years of abandonment, but today the former military hospital in Naples, renamed La Santissima Hub, is once again in the spotlight for reasons very different from the cultural ones that have characterized it in recent months.

Some rooms of the building were seized by the judicial police after a musical event was held inside it last Sunday without the necessary authorizations.
The organizer, the Post Office agency, transformed the space into an illegal nightclub, unleashing chaos in the heart of the Spanish Quarter.
Chaos in Via Trinità delle Monache in the Spanish Quarters
Vico Trinità delle Monache, on Sunday evening, looked like a summer arena: hundreds of young people queuing to get in, traffic paralyzed and police patrols busy restoring order.
The situation became unbearable, with cars double-parked and young people crowded along the narrow slope leading to the entrance. Although the event was scheduled from 17:24 PM to midnight, the maximum capacity had already been reached by 22:XNUMX PM, but the crowd continued to grow.
The discontent of residents and those trapped in traffic led to the report of the committee "Respect for rights and rules", triggering the intervention of the police.
The seizure by the municipal police
Yesterday morning, at the entrance to the building, there were seals with the words “Area subjected to preventive seizure”, dated March 2. According to the municipal police report, the problems were not limited to the lack of licenses.
The event, in fact, had been set up as a real disco, with DJs, music, dancing and a catering service for drinks, accessible upon payment of a ticket. However, the authorizations required by the TULPS (Consolidated Law on Public Safety) for dance shows were missing.
But that's not all. The area was accessible through a driveway shared with a construction site, creating a dangerous situation for participants. There were no signs indicating escape routes or risks associated with the work in progress. The officers, along with the firefighters and civil protection, interrupted the event, safely evacuated the public, and ordered the seizure of the ballroom and adjacent area.
The defense of the consortium
Defending itself is Urban Value, the company that promoted the rebirth of the former military hospital through a consortium. According to those responsible, the fault does not lie with the hub, but with the organizers of the event.
In fact, La Santissima rents the spaces to third parties for temporary initiatives, but has no role in the management of the evenings. “The property's permits have nothing to do with events organized by others,” the dealers explained, rejecting the idea that the hub has become a nightclub.
Meanwhile, the case turns the spotlight back on the youth emergency and the difficulty of reconciling fun, safety and respect for the rules in a city like Naples, where the desire to live the night often clashes with bureaucracy and territorial control.

It's really strange how a structure that had been reopened for culture, now finds itself involved in an illegal event. Perhaps more control and clear rules would be needed to avoid these problems in the future, otherwise nothing changes.
I don't know if it's fair to say that the former hospital is now a nightclub, but it seems that the rules have been ignored. Lots of people queuing and little security, the police were right to intervene to stop the chaos that was created.
