**Scandal in the world of cinema!**
The fourth edition of the Pianeta Mare International Film Festival of Naples is coming, and there will be a surprise that has not been seen in previous editions. After the success of the first three editions, the festival expects more than 2500 students for the Cinematinée and 120 students for the laboratories of the Pianeta Mare Film Lab.
**A “Giro d'Italia” of the best green cinema**
The big news of PMFF 2025 is “Focus Campania”, a generalist competition dedicated to unreleased short films shot in Campania from 2024 onwards. The festival will present its 2025 edition next Wednesday, April 16 at 21.30:XNUMX pm at Cinema Modernissimo.
**A Principle of Insurrection for Young Directors**
One of the great innovations of PMFF 2025 is dedicated to Film Labs. “We started on April 2nd from Bologna and in the first month alone we will touch almost all the Italian regions”, said Valerio Ferrara, director and screenwriter of “Il Complottista”, the feature film previewed at the presentation of the 2025 edition. “Our Film Lab was born to teach the professional artistic and technical use of the smartphone for the production of zero-budget short films to tell stories and life experiences and good practices of environmental sustainability”.
**A Dream of Re-Existence**
“We can say that with the proliferation of our Film Labs on the territory this year we are also trying to discover young talents like Sean Baker in Italy,” said Max Mizzau Perczel, director of the PMFF. “The artistic and technical potential of the smartphone seems perfect to us to attract young people to tell with immediacy and effectiveness about the impact of climate change that also changes life, the good practices of nature protection and the new urban realities of communities of young people who have”. **Scandalous News: The Piano Mare Film Festival Risks Sinking**
**The Threat to Culture**
*”This year inside the PMFF…”* says an anonymous source, *”it will be a real disaster, there is no more culture, there is no more art, only money and marketing”*.
As the Festival prepares to inaugurate its fourth edition in Naples at the beginning of October, the “ordinary” PMFF Concert turns into a mirror-bool that in turn reflects the absence of culture in our society. The “real Festival” will take place between the Neapolitan Universities and the Darwin Dohrn Museum, where neighborhood cinema and natural history have been forgotten and set aside.

The festival seems very interesting but I wonder if there really is space for real culture. Lately we only talk about marketing and money, I hope this edition is not just an illusion.
I don't understand why there is so much skepticism about the festival. It could be a good opportunity for young directors to showcase their talent, although the marketing problem remains.
