For investigating judge Leda Rossetti, this is an attempted murder, and the man must remain in prison. The investigation continues to identify and capture the two accomplices still on the run.
According to the reconstruction by the Naples Prosecutor's Office, Amirante allegedly attacked the young mother after dragging her out of the car. Then, he allegedly tried to throw her over the fence of the belvedere, into the void
. Only the woman's desperate reaction prevented the tragedy: a twenty-meter fall. The intervention of the Carabinieri was decisive, as they stopped the man a few hours later.
It wasn't the first time. Amirante had already attacked Gaia when she was four months pregnant, and in another episode he had hit her while she was holding her newborn son. This latest violence was documented in a video shot by the victim herself with her cell phone.
In the custody order, the judge highlights how the suspect has provided versions that are “clearly in contrast” with the evidence acquired. The investigation, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Raffaello Falcone and conducted by the prosecutor Raffaele Tufano, is based not only on the statements of the victim – whose swollen face was relaunched on social media thanks to the intervention of the deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli – but also on the testimonies of those who witnessed the scene and raised the alarm, as well as video surveillance images acquired by the investigators.
The two accomplices in the attack are still wanted.
“I am in contact with Gaia, who continues to be shaken but determined to react” – declared AVS deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli – “We have obtained surveillance measures to protect her, but now it is essential to bring her accomplices to justice. We need a strong and concrete signal against gender violence. The laws are there, but we need to change our mentality and make prevention procedures more effective.”
