Castellammare di Stabia, after years of waiting, has brought the ancient tradition of running back to life, transforming itself into the evocative stage of the first edition of the Stabia Sea Run.
The sporting event, held yesterday, April 27, 2025, saw the participation of approximately 800 runners who, with their enthusiasm, animated the streets of the center, crossing some of the most emblematic places of the city, such as the Cassarmonica, Corso Garibaldi, Piazza Giovanni XXIII and the Marina di Stabia Tourist Port.
A decidedly favorable climate allowed the athletes to test themselves under a clear and encouraging sky, which magnificently enhanced the beauty of the panoramic views along the 10,1 km of the route.
The excellent organization curated by ASD Antares Free Runner Stabia – a promoter of sport in Castellammare di Stabia and the Campania region for years – guaranteed high-level technical standards.
This commitment received unanimous approval from participants, confirming the full success of the event, which took place under the patronage of the city and with the official recognition of FIDAL Campania.
Attention to detail and generous, yet particular, attention to the needs of the participants have characterised the coordination of the activities and support services for the competition, without neglecting the identification of bars and a parking lot.
The Città Viva Association also offered a valuable logistical contribution, transforming its headquarters in Via Matteotti (the former ticket office of the FS station) – located near the race area – into a functional access point for collecting bibs and providing assistance to registered participants throughout the entire weekend.
The Stabia Sea Run was more than just a sports competition: once the race was over, it can be defined as an event of emotions shared by the entire community, strengthened by the participating presence of a large audience. Castellammare di Stabia, still deeply affected by the recent tragedy of the Faito cable car, found the strength to gather its energies, becoming the beating heart of a 10,1 km route, faced with sobriety and composure. The start was preceded by a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the disaster of April 17 and for the passing of Pope Francis. To make the moment even more significant, the reading of a reflection by the late Pontiff, entrusted to the voice of the speaker Carlo Cantales, President of the Fidal National Athletes Commission.
From a technical point of view, the route, characterized by a flat and flowing progression, met the expectations of all participants, favoring every type of objective, including that of those aiming to beat their personal records.
All the runners who reached the finish line, as an indelible memory of the territory, they received a commemorative medal depicting the Cassarmonica Stabiese, an iconic symbol of the city.
The competition saw the triumph, in the men's category Galluccio Enrico of the Asd Castro Running Avis Team with 0:34:57 followed by Pollio Francesco of Asd Sorrento Runners with 0:35:24 e Ferrigno Francesco of Apd Atl. Scafati Antoniana Run with 0:35:38.
The women's podium was entirely conquered from the athletes of Caivano Runners. Sisters Francesca and Filomena Palomba dominated, placing first and second respectively, with times of 37:47 and 39:30. To complete the podium, De Iulio Emilia, who with a time of 40:55 took third place.
With this extraordinary first edition, the Stabia Sea Run leaves an important legacy: the trace of a sport that inspires and unites and that in this wake collects successes. All we can do is look to the future and eagerly await the next edition. May the dream continue…!

The running event in Castellammare di Stabia was an important occasion for the community. Many runners participated and this created a climate of sharing that is to be praised, I hope it will be repeated next year.
