In light of the ongoing seismic swarm in the area of Phlegraean Fields, with three tremors felt by the population in the last two months, the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, Nello Musumeci, has announced his intention to propose the declaration of a national state of emergency.
The decision was made at the end of a summit held in Rome, attended, among others, by the head of Civil Protection Fabio Ciciliano and the top management of Casa Italia.
“The provision – explained Musumeci – would allow us to accelerate, in an extraordinary regime, the procedures already foreseen by the regulations passed by the Meloni government in the last 18 months, relating to the seismic risk connected to bradyseism”.
Before submitting the proposal to the Council of Ministers, the minister will seek the agreement of the President of the Campania Region.
