The Amalfi Coast, jewel of Italian tourism, is preparing to face a summer season with serious mobility difficulties.
Starting from May 12th, the Travelmar company will suspend most of the sea connections to and from Maiori, leaving only four daily trips.
The decision was made following the new restrictions imposed by the Port Authority of Salerno, which authorizes docking only for boats under 27 meters. In addition to the reduction in trips, concessions for residents and commuters will be abolished, with a general increase in fares.
Maiori, one of the most popular destinations on the Coast, risks paying a very high price. With a growing trend in tourist presence, the lack of efficient connections could compromise not only the reception, but also the essential services for residents and workers.
