Naples – Marica Mastroianni, the woman arrested by the Carabinieri of Genoa in early February and believed, together with her husband Alberto Macor, to be the head of a vast organization dedicated to scams against the elderly throughout Italy, has been placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet.
The decision was made by GIP of Naples Michaela Sapio, which accepted the request presented by the woman's lawyer, the'lawyer Bruno Cervone.
The judge motivated his decision taking into account Mastroianni's delicate family situation, mother of three minor children currently cared for by their paternal grandparents, aggravated by the husband's detention and the disability of their maternal grandmother. The GIP also considered the "process of internal rethinking" manifested by the woman.
The arrest of Mastroianni and her husband dates back to the operation of February 1, 2025, when the Carabinieri carried out 29 precautionary measures issued by the Genoa court against the alleged leaders and executors of a gang based in Naples, specialized in the “fake marshal” scam.
According to investigations, Alberto Macor and Marica Mastroianni They managed the phone calls with which the elderly in various Italian regions were defrauded from actual call centers set up in Naples.
The couple coordinated the “transfers”, the material executors of the scams: the man passed himself off as a Carabinieri marshal, while his wife impersonated a lawyer to make the scam more credible. Among those arrested was also a brother of Alberto Macor, known for starring in movie "Gomorrah".
The GIP's decision to grant house arrest to Marica Mastroianni represents a partial easing of the precautionary measure, motivated by humanitarian reasons and by the woman's alleged desire to undertake a process of reflection on her past.
The investigators' attention remains high on the entire organization, dismantled thanks to the operation of the police of Genoa.
