Article Key Points
The plot that unleashes chaos
The comedy “Ogni promessa è debito”, written and directed by Salemme, intertwines wild humor with profound themes, staging the classic Italian pasticcio. At the center is Benedetto Croce, a middle-aged pizza chef from Bacoli, a widower and father of two, who during an adventure at sea makes a desperate vow to Saint Anna to save himself. Miraculously saved, he finds himself inundated with insatiable requests from the parish priest, the mayor and his family, all ready to exploit his promise in a whirlwind of religious fanaticism, opportunism and family dynamics bordering on the ridiculous. The story culminates in a twist that borders on the surreal, exploring the shaky boundary between genuine faith and cynical exploitation.
Reflections between laughter and reality
Not just a fun show, “Ogni Promessa è Debto” invites us to reflect on the relationship between faith and pragmatism, personal honesty and the weight of other people’s expectations, with Salemme painting a chaotic portrait of contemporary society. Through colorful characters and exaggerated situations, the eternal battle between moral duties, altruism and that subtle selfishness that dominates everyday choices emerges, in a mix that could turn up the noses of the most devout.
The festival that never stops
This event is part of the Un'Estate da Belvedere program, which this year expands between the Belvedere di San Leucio and the space in front of the Royal Palace of Caserta, both UNESCO sites. Other shows on the program include: Enrico Brignano (June 27), Cristiano De André (July 8), Maurizio Battista (July 10), Massimiliano Gallo (July 11), Lucio Corsi (July 13), Marcus Miller (July 16), Anastacia (July 18), Diodato (July 20), Edoardo Leo (July 23), Rocco Hunt (September 11), Tananai (September 13), Francesco De Gregori (September 15), Giorgia (September 16 and 26), Gianna Nannini (September 17) and the main event with Luciano Ligabue on September 6. Tickets for the additional date of July 25 are already on pre-sale at Ticketone and at authorized sales points, ready to fly away in a flash.
