Sala Consilina – An old Piaggio Ciao PX from 1989, which had been standing still for over twenty years, has been brought back to life by transforming itself into a modern e-bike
. This ambitious project, simply called “Piaggio Ciao”, was created by the students of the “Marco Tullio Cicerone” Institute in Sala Consilina, in the Salerno area, in a brilliant collaboration with the Ambra Italia company.
The initiative combines mechanical restoration, technological innovation and environmental sustainability, offering young people valuable hands-on experience.
The idea was born from teachers Antonio Rosciano and Giuseppe Rotunno, who guided the students through a concrete educational path. The first phase saw the kids engaged in the meticulous disassembly of the moped: the frame was cleaned and painted in the iconic Piaggio red, while tires, rims and other damaged parts were replaced.
The real revolution occurred in the second phase, with the integration of the electric kit provided by Ambra Italia. The “new” e-bike boasts a 1000W brushless motor, a 48V lithium battery that guarantees a range of up to 70 km, a digital control unit and even regenerative braking. Each step of the work was meticulously documented with slides and technical videos, testifying to the commitment and professionalism of the students.
The electric Piaggio Ciao has already been successfully tested in the schoolyard, becoming a tangible symbol of the ecological transition and sustainable mobility. The project has aroused great interest and is a candidate for replication in other schools, with the aim of training a new generation of technicians ready to face the “green” challenges of the future.
From Amendolara, its origin, to Sala Consilina, the “journey” of this Ciao is now transformed into an ideal bridge between past and future, in the name of innovation and respect for the environment.
