Municipal elections. The main political game was played in SALERNO city. But 39 other municipalities in the province also went to the polls to renew the City Council. Battipaglia and Eboli will have to postpone the appointment to the second round: in the leading city of the Piana del Sele, the outgoing mayor Cecilia Francese reached 45,69% of the votes, beating the center-left candidate Antonio Visconti by 12 percentage points.
Much more balanced is the challenge in Eboli where there will be a runoff between the civic Mario Conte (26.93%) and the center-left candidate Antonio Cuomo (20.53%). Overall, the challenge of the Administrative elections has smiled on the center-left which, thanks to the organization put in place on the territory by the governor Vincenzo De Luca, has also confirmed in the municipalities the trend that was recorded in the three main cities at the vote.
The highest percentage was awarded to Antonio Giuliano who was reconfirmed as mayor of Giffoni Valle Piana with almost 90% of the preferences. Two administrators enjoyed their third mandate: Pietro Pentangelo (Corbara) and Stefano Pisani (Pollica).
Three municipalities also saw the dobbe triumph: Anna Maria Caso won in Praiano becoming the first female mayor of the Amalfi Coast. Monte San Giacomo elected Angela D'Alto, while Michela Cimino won the tricolor sash in Padula.
