The Court of Appeal of Naples has ordered house arrest with an electronic bracelet at a drug rehabilitation center for 37-year-old Marco Bevilacqua.
The young man of Sinti origins, born in Torre Annunziata, and moved to Qualiano after being released from prison for killing his father-in-law in Scafati will be transferred to “Il Brutto Anatroccolo” in Lamezia Terme.
He had been arrested on charges of having shot and wounded four people outside a bar in Qualiano on the night between Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May. The judges accepted the request presented by Nunzio Mallardo, Bevilacqua's lawyer, sharing his defense approach.
In particular, Mallardo pointed out that Bevilacqua was a drug addict being treated at the Sert, for which he had filed the certificate, and that on the evening of the incident he only wanted to defend himself after having suffered at least two violent attacks in the past months - the lawyer provided the medical certificates - by people living in Qualiano.
Bevilacqua had moved to Qualiano last year after serving 14 years in prison for the murder of his father-in-law, and that's when his problems began, since he would never have been accepted, precisely because of the crime he had committed, by the community he had moved to.
