The beauty of one of the most important monuments in the world will be celebrated again this year by the festival that has become the unmissable summer event for all lovers of great music.
“Un'Estate da RE” returns to the Royal Palace of Caserta from 3 to 18 September, the musical festival programmed and financed by the Campania Region (POC 2014-2020 funds), organised and promoted by Scabec – a regional company for the promotion of cultural heritage – in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Management of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Municipality of Caserta and the “Giuseppe Verdi” Municipal Theatre of Salerno; the artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Antonio Marzullo.
Five events, an extraordinary opening with Carmina Burana and a closing in the name of Claudio Baglioni with a special double concert: the program of the seventh edition ranges from opera to soul, up to the iconic Italian singer-songwriter revisited in a symphonic key, including a tribute to Fabrizio De André with the participation of Peppe Servillo.
The review was presented this morning at Palazzo Santa Lucia, in Naples. The President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca, the mayor of Caserta Carlo Marino, the director of the Royal Palace of Caserta Tiziana Maffei, the artistic director of “Un'Estate da RE” Antonio Marzullo participated.
Desired by the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca in 2016 to create an event that would simultaneously promote the UNESCO sites and the musical cultural tradition that in Campania boasts international excellence, “Un'Estate da RE” has taken root in the territory thanks to the success of past editions, which have seen the participation of world-famous artists such as Ennio Morricone, Riccardo Muti, Plácido Domingo, Ezio Bosso, Jonas Kaufmann, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Oren, Antonio Pappano, Ludovico Einaudi, Stefano Bollani, Uto Ughi, Anna Netrebko, David Garrett.
Over the years, the event has become an opportunity for cultural and tourist relaunch and for the valorization of the entire Caserta area and Campania, giving everyone the chance to experience listening to great music and its extraordinary protagonists thanks to a low ticket price policy.
It begins on Saturday 3 September with a “royal” inauguration: the Carmina Burana, the most exhaustive anthology of medieval songs of non-religious inspiration based on 24 poems found in homonymous poetic texts.
The imposing composition by Carl Orff will be conducted by Michael Balke, an excellent and acclaimed conductor. On stage, the voices of Deniz Leone, Laura Claycomb and Gustavo Castillo will dialogue, accompanied by the Chorus of the Teatro dell'Opera di Salerno, the Children's Chorus of the Teatro “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno and the Philharmonic Orchestra “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno.
On Thursday 8 September there will be a concert-tribute to Fabrizio De André (Sinfonico – Sogno n°1 e oltre), whose music will be reinterpreted in an orchestral key by the English pianist, composer, arranger and conductor Geoff Westley. Peppe Servillo, soloist of Avion Travel, and Ilaria Pilar Patassini will perform some of De André's most beautiful songs.
Mario Biondi's “Romantic tour” will stop at the Reggia di Caserta on Tuesday, September 13. Biondi will bring his most famous songs to the stage as well as those from his new album “Romantic”, released on March 18, a project entirely dedicated to love in all its forms, from the bond between couples to the bond between brothers and sisters, to the love for parents and children.
Grand finale for the seventh edition of “Un'Estate da RE” with a special double concert by Claudio Baglioni, protagonist on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September together with the Orchestra and Choir of the “Giuseppe Verdi” Theatre of Salerno, conducted by Geoff Westley: fifty years of great music and great recording successes will be enclosed in two magical evenings with very strong emotions.
All shows will start at 21.00:XNUMX PM.
“We have presented a high quality program for the Reggia – declared the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca – that deserved a valorization worthy of its importance. Events like this have a double collateral effect: they encourage tourist flows in our territories and allow thousands of people to discover the unparalleled natural, historical-artistic and archaeological beauties of our region. We should be proud of the quantity and offer of cultural events that the Campania Region offers, which is unmatched by any other region in Italy, confirming a political choice of investment and valorization of the cultural sector in all its aspects.”
“The Royal Palace of Caserta returns as the protagonist of A Summer Like a ROYAL – commented the General Director of the Royal Palace of Caserta Tiziana Maffei – this time enhancing the courtyards of the Royal Palace. Large spaces, framed by the charm of the rooms of the Court of the Bourbons, the subject of demanding restorations in recent years and which, also in light of the success of the cinema events of the last few weeks, we intend to share as “squares of culture”. I thank the Campania Region and Scabec who every year contribute to enriching the cultural offering of the Museum and promoting its heritage. We plan to organize together a series of initiatives aimed at the public of A Summer Like a King that can communicate and enhance the Royal Palace of Caserta and its exhibitions during this event. We are certain that this year too the Royal Palace of Caserta will be able to amaze with its Wonder.”
