Extraordinary evening opening of the Royal Palace of Naples from 20.00 to 23.00 at a cost of 2 euros. Mario Epifani: “An initiative to be repeated in the fall too.”
Over 5000 people visited the Royal Palace of Naples during the extraordinary openings in the evening hours on the four Fridays of August. Two more dates are scheduled for September 2 and 9.
The “Friday at the Palace” initiative, promoted as part of the 2022 enhancement projects, includes a total of six evenings, from August 5 to September 9, during which the Historic Apartment is exceptionally open to the public from 20.00:23.00 pm to 22.00:2 pm (last admission at XNUMX:XNUMX pm), at the reduced cost of XNUMX euros.
There are still two weeks to go until the end of the initiative, which has met with greater success than expected, demonstrated by the long and orderly lines that crossed Piazza del Plebiscito on Friday evenings in August. It was a particularly fortunate month for Palazzo Reale, which recorded, despite the heat, the presence of over 30 thousand visitors.
“An initiative that we will certainly resume next autumn – confirms director Mario Epifani – and that in addition to the convenience of the entrance fee offers the possibility of a visit to the Historic Apartment even to those who are busy during the day for work reasons”.
In this part of summer, the cultural offering of Palazzo Reale is expanded, in addition to the evening openings on September 2 and 9, also thanks to free admission on the first Sunday of the month, next September 4, as part of the initiative of the Ministry of Culture "Domenica al Museo".
During the visit it is possible to visit the exhibition Don Quixote between Naples Caserta and the Quirinale, the cartoons and tapestries in which the preparatory paintings are displayed compared with some of the tapestries preserved at the Quirinale that illustrate the famous novel by Miguel de Cervantes, in addition to the precious illustrated editions of the novel from the National Library of Naples and the score of the comic opera of the same name by Giovanni Paisiello from the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella in Naples.
In the Historic Apartment itinerary, it is also possible to admire the frescoes by Battistello Caracciolo in the Sala del Gran Capitano, a stop in the widespread exhibition organized by the Capodimonte Museum The Bronze Patriarch of the Caravaggios: Battistello Caracciolo (1578-1635) which also involves the Royal Palace of Naples and the Museum of San Martino. In one of the frescoes, it is possible to distinguish the portrait of Michelangelo da Caravaggio, of whom the Neapolitan artist was one of the first followers.
During “Fridays at the Palace” the Gardens and the Galleria del Tempo will be closed to the public and ticket reservations are not required.
