The project for a new LNG gas depot in the Port of Naples was rejected by the Ministries of Environment and Culture with the decree of May 24, 2023, a huge risk to deposit 20 thousand cubic meters on the Vigliena Pier.
“Finally the ministries have given their negative opinion on the environmental impact assessment, which is what we all expected: placing it in an area that is already so heavily polluted, which has been waiting for remediation for decades, and what's more under Vesuvius, was a totally crazy choice – declares the independent Councillor Maria Muscarà, activist in the protests of dissent –
A round of applause also to the associations that in the territory of eastern Naples, are trying to restore liveability to an area that has been asking for reclamation since 85, for a Sin area that has been waiting too long for the presence of the institutions. Having put aside the battle for LNG - concludes the councilor - now we will have to start again the one for the biogas production plant that they call composting. In the meantime, in eastern Naples we only want to hear the word "safety and reclamation"!
