The preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Napoli Giovanni De Angelis has acquitted, with the formula "the fact does not exist", the Colonel of the Guardia di Finanza Stefano Bastoni accused by the Naples Prosecutor's Office of corruption.
The officer – who at the time of the contested events held the role of commander of the Naval Air Operations Department of the Guardia di Finanza (ROAN) of Naples – was accused by investigators of having received hydrofoil tickets as a gift. Domenico Ciruzzi, the colonel's lawyer, expressed "great satisfaction": "This is a decision that in my opinion is very fair - the lawyer emphasizes - both from a legal and factual point of view.
My client had from the beginning given ample demonstration of his total extraneousness to the contested facts and the Gup certified the non-existence of the fact, avoiding a useless debate and harbinger of only suffering". The affair dates back to November 2022 and the colonel was not notified nor ever asked for any precautionary measure.
