Paola Chiuccarelli, affected by spastic dysplasia: model for a day

Twenty-two years old, a wheelchair and a dream in the drawer: to be model. It's the story of Paola Chiuccarelli, which will be on the catwalk for the first time on October 14th, during the fashion show organized by Mia Sposa Fair in the Medì Shopping Center in Teverola.

Paola suffers from spastic dysplasia, a disease that prevents her from walking. But this has not stopped her from pursuing her dream of becoming a model. In fact, two years ago, she signed up to an agency, 2rcomunicazioni, which helped her realize her desire.

“I would like to graduate, but in my condition there is little I can do,” Paola said. “I hope this experience of mine can serve as a warning to those like me who struggle every day not only with disability, but above all with the limits and barriers placed by society and the world we live in.”

“Disabled people are not to be discarded, but can put themselves on the line every day and overcome the obstacles that their condition imposes,” he added. “Just think that we disabled people cannot go out alone and consequently find a job that makes us independent because we are limited by architectural barriers. And I believe that in 2023, living in these conditions is decidedly absurd and unacceptable.”

“What I ask is that the world becomes more inclusive and not limited to appearances, because we are much more,” concluded the model.

Echoing her words is the patron of Mia Sposa, Marcello Damiano: “I am very happy to have Paola with us on Saturday, a moment that we have dedicated entirely to young people who need to make their way in the adult world. Paola is a force of nature. We should commit ourselves every day to looking at everything from another perspective because people like her teach us that limits are always and only in our heads”.
