In addition to the canonical itinerary at the Museum, evening entry (with extraordinary opening) is planned to the suggestive Royal Chapel of the Treasure.
A unique opportunity to visit one of the city's greatest artistic expressions. The guides Matteo Borriello and Marina Minniti will lead the public to discover the only treasure that can compete with that of the English crown; texts by Febo Quercia, performed by Mario Di Fonzo and Roberta Frascati. At the end of the event, a tasting of Aglianico del Sannio Doc wine is planned. To participate, reservations are required: 3397020849 or 333 3152415. Full ticket price: 20 euros; reduced for children from 12 to 18 years: 14 euros.
The dramatized visit spans a time span of about seven hundred years, recovering historical testimonies and imaginative legends connected to the accumulation of precious items such as the famous jeweled mitre by the goldsmith Matteo Treglia – composed of 3694 precious stones, made in 1713 on commission from the Deputation of San Gennaro; the legendary necklace – of such an important value that it competes with the jewels of the English crown -, made of gold and silver by Michele Dato in 1679 and enriched until 1879 with various stones with donations from rulers from all over Europe. And again, the gifts delivered to the saint by Napoleon, Pope Pius IX and King Umberto I and Margherita of Savoy.
In the rooms that house the magnificent treasure, the public will meet Eusebia Januario (played by Valeria Frallicciardi), relative of the saint and descendant of the one who preserved the blood in the vials; and Giuseppe Navarra (played by Mario Di Fonzo), known as the king of Poggioreale, famous for having recovered for the city of Naples the treasure stored in the Vatican at the outbreak of the Second World War and made famous by the film by Dino Risi, Operazione San Gennaro.
