Ercolano. The trial of Gaetano Colantuono, a 39-year-old entrepreneur from Ercolano known in the food sector, ended with a six-year prison sentence.
The man was arrested last September as part of an operation by the Guardia di Finanza that led to the seizure of 122 kilos of cocaine, worth approximately 30 million euros.
The drugs were found inside a container coming from Panama, which arrived at a commercial warehouse in San Giorgio a Cremano. Colantuono had been arrested while he was trying to open the provided containers,.
At the trial, the prosecutor Luigi Santulli had requested a sentence of 16 years in prison. The Gup Enrico Campoli instead issued a lighter sentence, accepting the defense thesis supported by thelawyer Rosario Arienzo.
The lawyer underlined Colantuono's admission of the facts and his precarious economic conditions, also due to the pressure from the “local underworld”.

Colantuono was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment, the basic sentence reduced to six years with mitigating circumstances and the exclusion of the aggravating circumstance of particular gravity due to the quantity of drugs.
