Sturno, Frigento, Grottaminarda and Mirabella Eclano are in mourning for the tragic death of Roy Ciampa, Mattia Ciminera, Francesco Di Chiara and Bilal Boussadra, four inseparable friends killed in a terrible road accident during the night between July 13 and 14.
They were heading to an ice cream shop when their car, a Mercedes, hit two vehicles coming from the opposite direction and, skidding, crashed at high speed into the wall of a business along the Statale 90 delle Puglie.
The impact was fatal: the four boys, all twenty years old, died instantly.
Roy Ciampa and Mattia Ciminera, both 21 years old, were originally from Sturno. Francesco Di Chiara, 21 years old, was from Frigento, while Bilal Boussadra, 19 years old, was born in Morocco but had lived in Mirabella Eclano with his family since he was a child.
Bilal, a great boxing promise, had recently won the title of Italian under-22 champion in his category. Roy Ciampa, an amateur footballer, was also the president of a Ducati club in Grottaminarda, the “Motolito Doc”, named after the only monument in Southern Italy dedicated to motorcyclists who were victims of the road.
The rescuers, who arrived on the scene shortly after midnight, found a heartbreaking scenario. Firefighters worked for hours to extract the bodies from the wreckage of the car. Traffic was blocked for several hours.
The pain on friends' social media
The entire community is in shock over the tragedy. The mayors of Sturno, Frigento, Grottaminarda and Mirabella Eclano have expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.
The world of boxing also mourns Bilal Boussadra. The Irpinia Pro Ring Boxe Team Froncillo remembered him as a young man of great talent and tenacity, a true champion inside and outside the ring.
