Naples. “When people’s health is at stake, you have to be determined and concrete. The Island of Capri has a justified trust in ASL Napoli 1 Centro and we must ensure that this feeling is consolidated more and more”.
With these words Ciro Verdoliva (general director of ASL Napoli 1 Centro) commented on the session of the permanent round table on the health needs of the Island of Capri, convened by the Local Health Authority Naples 1 Center to take stock of what has been planned or already implemented compared to what has been started in terms of programming and planning since 2019.
£As general manager I have always considered the path of fair and transparent discussion to be the best possible – added Verdoliva – for this reason I convened the Round Table as a tangible sign of the attention that ASL Napoli 1 Centro has towards all citizens represented by the Mayors.
If there are critical issues, we are the first to want to address them and I am satisfied with the climate of great collaboration that animated today's meeting, also thanks to the concreteness with which the municipal administrations intervened".
And it is precisely in the spirit of collaboration that the Permanent Round Table on the health needs of the Island of Capri today took place, a meeting aimed at facilitating and speeding up the acquisition of needs, observations and proposals necessary to allow for concrete and, where possible, shared planning.
At the Round Table, in addition to the mayor Paolo Falco (Municipality of Capri) and Manuela Schiano (Assistant for Social Policies and delegate of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anacapri), Marco Papa (Director of the UOC Health Programming and Planning, ASL Napoli 1 Centro), Vincenzo Gallotto (Director of the PO Santa Maria di Loreto and the annexed Capilupi Plant of Capri, ASL Napoli 1 Centro), Anna Manna (Director of the Basic Health District n°73), Maria Losardo (Head of Territorial Services on the Island of Capri), Antonio Bruno (Head of the Special PNRR Office) also took part.
Many tangible results have already been achieved to date, appreciated during today's meeting of the Round Table, such as the ongoing work on the Community House and the Territorial Operations Centre which will be operational by next spring and the renovation of the Capilupi Hospital last April.
The representatives of the municipal administrations focused on some macro-points (organizational issues and territorial problems) and (functional organization of Capilupi Hospital) also indicating specific critical issues addressed in detail by the participants and for which the Company has committed to short and medium-term solutions.
The “Screening Saturdays” campaign has also been confirmed, during which it will be possible to perform – without reservation and free of charge – mole mapping, pap tests, mammograms, colorectal cancer screening, spirometry, cardiology visits, dermatology visits (scheduled dates in September).
The mayor of Capri, Paolo Falco, expresses «satisfaction with the Round Table, because it achieves results and allows the active and concrete participation of many co-protagonist actors. We share – continues the mayor – the approach of the Round Table because we appreciate concrete results and ask for consistency in this methodology.
We will work in synergy with ASL Napoli 1 Centro to guarantee the people of Capri, first and foremost, the right to health. We are satisfied with the concrete attention received from ASL Napoli1 Centro”.
The delegate of the mayor of the Municipality of Anacapri Manuela Schiano was also satisfied: "We believe that the synergy between ASL and Local Authorities is fundamental to protect and guarantee the health needs of the Island of Capri and I join in asking for consistency in this methodology and concreteness in the responses".
All participants at the Round Table asked to confirm the attention on emergency routes.
President Vincenzo De Luca sent his greetings to the Round Table, wishing everyone good work in the perspective of a fruitful collaboration for the noble purpose of providing citizens, Anacapri and Capri, as well as those who enjoy the wonderful Island as tourists, the necessary social-health and clinical assistance services to protect the right to health.
