Auto insurance rates continue to rise despite the slowdown in inflation and the absence of elements that determine higher costs for insurance companies.
Assoutenti states this, commenting on Ivass data according to which in June the average prices of insurance policies rose by 5,4%, reaching an average of 403 euros per policy.
Again Napoli, with an average price of 583 euros (up from 580 euros in May), is confirmed as the Italian province where car insurance costs the most, followed by Prato (574 euros) and Caserta (517 euros).
On the opposite side of the ranking is Enna, the most convenient city with an average of 290 euros (+5 euros compared to May 2024), followed by Potenza with 301 euros and Oristano with 306 euros – Assoutenti analyses – However, if we consider the annual percentage increase, Rome is the city with the most expensive policies, up 9,3% on June 2023, followed by Cagliari, Catania, Enna and Vecelli with +8,3% on the year.
“Car insurance rates are rising despite falling inflation and no increase in accidents in our country,” explains President Gabriele Melluso. “These numbers clash with the record figures recorded by insurance companies in the last year, with company profits reaching 8 billion euros, up 249% compared to the previous year.”
