De Luca proposes to incentivize organ donations to reduce waiting lists

NAPLES (ITALPRESS) – A celebratory event was held in the Aula Magna of the Monaldi Hospital, commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of the Regional Transplant Center, located at the Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli. During the ceremony, the President of the Campania Region emphasized: “First of all, we wanted to remember with this event the first transplant we performed 30 years ago here at the Monaldi Hospital”.

The governor continued: "We have a reality of excellence regarding heart, kidney and liver transplants. Now we want to find a relaunch also regarding pediatric transplants".

Regarding the need to increase the number of donations, he said: "We think we can do more. Above all, we need to move to encourage organ donation because sometimes the waiting lists get longer because there is no donor, there is no organ to transplant." He then added the importance of an "extraordinary mobilization in schools, churches, sports associations, inviting everyone to donate organs and to express their willingness to be an organ donor when they get their identity card."
