NAPLES – He escaped from juvenile prison by making a hole in the wall of his cell, just like in the movies, and had been on the run for over a year: but his escape is over.
In fact, on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Naples, the State Police today carried out the arrest of Gennaro De Martino, born in 1998.
The young man, sentenced to 4 years, 2 months and 10 days in prison for crimes committed when he was a minor, is accused of mistreatment in the family, illegal possession of weapons, personal injury and resisting a public official.
De Martino, son of Salvatore De Martino, alias “Cap e' Guerr”, killed in a Camorra ambush in the Ponticelli district on August 11, 2021, had been a fugitive since October 25, 2023. On that date, while he was being held in the Airola juvenile prison, he had managed to escape by making a hole in the wall of his cell.

Salvatore De Martino, at the time of his death, was believed to be close to the De Luca Bossa clan, operating in the Lotto 0 area of Ponticelli and with a criminal record for Camorra-style association.
Gennaro De Martino, captured after months on the run, was transferred to the Naples-Poggioreale District Prison. Law enforcement continues to monitor the area to combat the phenomenon of organized crime and prevent similar incidents.
