The dynamics of the accident
According to the reconstruction of the facts, Pugliese, driving his Ford Fiesta, suddenly opened the door of his car, parked in a no-parking zone, while Gennaro Manna was arriving on his scooter.
The impact was fatal: the young man, thrown from the vehicle, ended up in the opposite lane and was hit by another car. After ten days of agony, Gennaro died at the Cardarelli hospital in Naples.

The sentence has caused deep bitterness among the parents of Gennaro, who, through their lawyer, had expressed their opposition to the plea bargain, believing the two-year sentence was inadequate for the seriousness of the crime. “It's as if they had killed Gennaro all over again,” commented the boy's father.
In addition to the two-year sentence, Pugliese was sanctioned with a one-year suspension of his driving license.
