Yesterday evening, February 15, a significant intervention was recorded in the Naples metro, precisely between the Cavour and Montesanto stations of Line 2, due to the presence of smoke.
The firefighters, belonging to the 18/B team of the Centro Storico detachment, were promptly mobilized on site, supported by the State Police officers, who proceeded to evacuate the stations for safety reasons.
Causes of smoking and initial investigations
According to information reported by qualified sources contacted by Fanpage.it, there was no fire. The intervention of the firefighters focused mainly on the section of the tunnel towards Piazza Cavour. Among the theories most accredited by experts, it is hypothesized that the smoke could have been generated by the brakes of a carriage of a train in transit.
In addition, another possibility was raised by RFI technicians, who suggested that the smoke could have been caused by the presence of strangers near the tracks in the Montesanto station.
This aspect will be the subject of further investigations. The situation has led to moments of concern among travellers, but fortunately no serious problems occurred and circulation was restored within a few hours.
