Pozzuoli – Tense moments yesterday evening at the emergency room of the Santa Maria delle Grazie hospital, where a couple went berserk and railed against a triage nurse. The reason? The demand to obtain priority for access to the medical examination.
In addition to verbal threats, the two also allegedly tried to intimidate the health worker.
This is the first assault recorded in 2025 within the ASL Napoli 2 Nord and already the eleventh in Neapolitan health facilities since the beginning of the year.
Once the alarm was raised, the officers of the Pozzuoli Police Station, led by Deputy Police Commissioner Raffaele Esposito, immediately intervened on the scene. The two attackers attempted to flee but were stopped and identified.
Now they will have to answer for disruption of public service and threats, in addition to the complaint for violence against a public official: thenurse, in fact, it is recognized as such by law.
The episode puts the spotlight back on the growing safety emergency in emergency rooms, with healthcare workers increasingly exposed to attacks and intimidation.
