A morning of chaos hit the Rome-Naples railway line, where traffic was interrupted between the stations of Cisterna di inscription and Campoleone following a tragic fatal accident that occurred near the latter station.
The incident was reported around 8:35, when Trenitalia officially declared the blockade of the line, causing delays, cancellations and diversions for Intercity and Regional trains.
The judicial authorities are currently on site to investigate the causes of the accident. At 9:30 am, traffic was still suspended, causing significant inconvenience to commuters and travelers.
According to Trenitalia: "Traffic is still suspended between Campoleone and Cisterna di Latina due to a person being hit by a car near Campoleone. Intercity and regional trains may experience delays and be cancelled or have their routes restricted."
Due to this suspension, some long-distance trains were diverted to alternative routes, skipping key stops for commuters.
