A Journey Through Time
From March 28, visitors can admire how food, a common thread between past and present, manifested itself in the quality of the products and the care of the preparation. The exhibition is designed to maintain the integrity of the historic Villa Campolieto, integrating it with exhibits that celebrate Roman food culture and the rich history of the ancient city of Herculaneum.
Roman Food Culture
Among the exhibits, more than 300 skeletons of Herculaneum inhabitants offer valuable information on the diet and health of the Roman population. The exhibits range from charred remains of foods such as bread and fruit to utensils and pottery. These testimonies reveal information on the fundamental aspects of nutrition in ancient Herculaneum.
Synergy between History and Territory
Gennaro Miranda, President of the Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane, expressed the importance of this collaboration with the Ercolano Archaeological Park, highlighting how the exhibition promotes the culture of food as a central element for the history and economy of the territory. Matteo Lorito, rector of the University of Naples Federico II, then underlined the importance of agricultural and food and wine research in the simultaneous increase of the cultural offerings of the Park. The exhibition represents a virtuous example of collaboration between institutions and a unique opportunity to explore the culinary and cultural tradition of ancient Ercolano, creating a link between past and present.

The exhibition looks very interesting but I don't know if I'll go because I don't have free time. I hope to find a day to visit it, although I'm not sure if my friends are interested in ancient food and culture of Herculaneum.
