San Nicola la Strada – A 57-year-old Neapolitan man was reported by the State Police for aggravated theft and violation of a judicial order, after targeting cars parked in the San Nicola Ovest service area of the A1 motorway.
The episode dates back to March 29, when the man, driving a car that was not his, allegedly damaged a car of a well-known brand to remove the side mirror. The investigations of the Naples North Highway Police Subsection allowed them to identify the alleged perpetrator of the act, already known to the police.
The checks revealed that the 57-year-old, instead of respecting the obligation to remain in the province of Naples imposed by a judicial provision, had moved to the Caserta area to commit the theft.
For this reason, in addition to the charge of aggravated theft, he was also charged with failure to comply with the authorities' instructions.
The operation is part of a broader effort to combat predatory crimes in motorway service areas, where robberies and thefts against unsuspecting motorists often occur.
