Crime at Court: Theatre Joins Play in the Botanical Garden of Portici
Saturday 18 July, by popular demand, the format created by KARMA returns: the visit-show with a crime.
A very special location was chosen for the occasion: the botanical garden of the Reggia di Portici.
But what does the format consist of?
Director Antonio Ruocco explains: “It is a particular format that we created a few years ago and already tested at the Pietrarsa Museum and at the Mav.
And, this time, we chose the botanical garden of the Portici palace to ensure social distancing, stay outdoors, let our spectators discover a new place, but, above all, set the scene in the eighteenth century.
Practically the theatre joins the game and the protagonists, in addition to being the actors, will be the spectators themselves".
Yes, because it will be a real investigation: equipped with pen and paper, the participants will take notes and become investigators together with King Ferdinand who will be the one to interrogate the suspects.
6 actors on stage, 5 of them suspected of murder and King Ferdinand who will investigate.
And so, between laughter, history and theatre, a format comes to life that will also award prizes to participants, as the organisation manager, Antonio Raia, explains: “It will be a mix between a show and a game, but it will all be based on a historical background.
A format like this had never been created. Normally, dinners, evenings, aperitifs with a crime are organized, but we wanted to use our formula of the visit-show to stay in our field.
People will be divided into teams and will investigate, trying to pick up signals during interrogations.
At the end, the top three teams will be awarded prizes.”
On stage, in addition to King Ferdinand, played by Ciro Scherma, there will be Malogno, the king's trusted friend, played by Ciro Pellegrino, the stableman Gioacchino (Antonio Botta), Lord Pent (Diego Consiglio), the French Madame Julie (Valeria Ariota), the cook Timballo (Luigi Imperato).
Each of them is a possible suspect.
It will be up to the show's participants to find out who the murderer is.
