Drug trafficking between Scafati, Salerno and the Neapolitan hinterland: leaders and followers in jail.
It was Vincenzo Starita from Scafati, alias 'a strega, the head of the criminal organization that ran a thriving drug dealing center in Scafati and in the municipalities of the Neapolitan hinterland, which was dismantled by the investigations of the Salerno Flying Squad, coordinated by the Salerno DDA, which this morning carried out a custody order against eleven people.

According to the prosecution, Starita – together with his associates, had close relations with local criminals and foreign criminal organizations – managing to organize the transportation of large quantities of narcotics from Spain and the Netherlands.
During the complex investigations, a considerable amount of evidence and evidence was acquired against the subjects involved in drug trafficking and in particular the criminal mechanism of purchase, transportation, possession, distribution and transfer of drugs, in particular cocaine, crack, hashish and marijuana.
VINCENZO STARITA ACTED AS A BROKER FOR THE CLANS
Vincenzo Starita, believed to be the head of the criminal organization - already involved in the past in legal proceedings for drug trafficking - according to investigators promoted, financed, directed and organized the activity, in particular arranging the supply of cocaine and hashish, acting as a real broker for the purchases and by weaving local criminal alliances and with foreign organizations, particularly Spanish ones.
This morning, the agents of the Salerno Flying Squad executed the precautionary custody order, issued by the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Court of Salerno, against 11 people, accused, to varying degrees, of criminal association aimed at the illicit trafficking of narcotics.

The development of the investigation activity, conducted by this Flying Squad and coordinated by the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Salerno, has made it possible to ascertain the existence of a criminal association capable of managing drug trafficking over a large territory, mainly in Salerno, Scafati and in the Vesuvian area of the Neapolitan hinterland, and in close relationship with criminal groups present in the Agro-Nocerino-Sarnese area as well as with criminal associations active at an international level.
During the investigations, two people were arrested with large seizures of drugs. In particular, on April 14, 2018, Mario Miranda was arrested while transporting 630 kilograms of hashish on board a truck, carefully hidden inside a trailer.
Two months later, on June 16, 2018, Luigi Canfora was stopped while transporting 11,059 kilos of cocaine.

The combination of the elements collected allowed us to consider the serious circumstantial evidence for all the suspects and to issue the precautionary measure.

3. MIRANDA Mario, 42 years old from Castellammare;
4. TUFANO Giovanni, 42 years old from Scafati;
5. BONAVOLTA Mariano, 46 years old from Naples
6. BONAVOLTA Salvatore, 36 years old from Naples
7. ROMITO Francesco, born in Germany 39 years old
Under house arrest:
8. CANFORA Luigi, 70 years old from Gragnano
9. COZZOLINO Luigi, 39 years old from Boscoreale, house arrest;
10. MUCERINO Biagio, 45 years old from San Giuseppe Vesuviano
At the moment, a suspect who is the recipient of the precautionary measure of detention in prison is untraceable and wanted.
