First hearing of the trial for the raid on Via dei Tribunali. The owner of Pasta is falling: “My complaints have bothered people but I am not afraid”. Borrelli: “Raffaele should not be left alone but we must make an example of him. The historic center must be freed from clans and crime.”
The first “probative incident” hearing is underway in courtroom 111 of the Naples Courthouse to gather statements from victims and witnesses regarding the raid on Via dei Tribunali last May when the wife of Raffaele Del Gaudio, owner of the restaurant “Cala la pasta”, was hit by a motorbike launched at high speed and immediately afterwards a group of people threatened the owner and employees of the restaurant, forcefully taking the motorbike away.
As La Repubblica reports, Del Gaudio reconstructed the facts that evening and pointed the finger at the person who had threatened him, Luigi Capuano, one of the 9 suspects locked in a cage. The restaurateur stated that after the incident he was approached by local people annoyed by the media hype of his complaints - "I haven't changed my habits. I'm not afraid of anyone" - Del Gaudio confessed.
The driver of the motorbike, Gennaro Vitone, is under house arrest while Patrizio Bosti jr is in jail under investigation for having taken part in the threats to take the moped away from the site of the raid.
"To talk about justice, this trial can only end with severe and long sentences for all the defendants. But the issue must not end there, the historic center must be freed from the clans and the crime that like a leech has clung to the economic flow generated by tourism. Raffaele deserves all our solidarity and support, as we have already demonstrated with the facts. Those who report must not be left alone but must become an example to follow, a leader, a guide for everyone, only in this way can we truly free ourselves from that cancer called the Camorra." - the words of the Regional Councilor of Europa Bere Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
