Site workers will gather outside the Campania regional council building tomorrow at 11,30:XNUMX Jabil by Marcianise.
The workers have been engaged in a dispute with the company's top management that has been going on since 2019 and which recently, on September 23, was revived with the decision of the American multinational to declare another 190 redundancies.
In 2019, there were 700 employees at Jabil in Marcianise, since then over 250 have left - fired and then relocated at Jabil's expense to other companies with sites in the Caserta area - and today the workforce is 440 units, but the US multinational, with the 190 declared layoffs, wants to reach a workforce of 250 employees. For tomorrow, the unions have planned, in conjunction with the picket outside the regional council building in the business center of Naples, also a three-hour strike by workers.
The protest action is being carried out in view of the important meeting that will be held on October 17th at the headquarters of Confindustria Caserta, where the unions and Jabil top management will meet to continue the discussion table provided for by the rules on collective dismissals; the first meeting on September 29th did not have a positive outcome, given that the electronics multinational reiterated its desire to resort to the 190 dismissals.
Meanwhile, in a note, the Caserta secretariats of the metalworkers' unions Fim-Cisl, Fiom-Cgil, Uilm and Failms express "total dissent with respect to the collective dismissal procedure of 190 Jabil workers, a choice that highlights even more the dramatic situation of the Caserta industrial sector.
Jabil has failed to meet the commitments made at the institutional level, with which, despite the continuing difficult market moment, it committed to increase the saturation of the Marcianise site with the addition of industrial activities. It is not acceptable to identify layoffs as the only solution”.
