Zucchero “Sugar” Fornaciari, Roberto Bolle, Plácido Domingo and other great international guests will be the protagonists of the musical event from July 13th to August 3rd.
Inaugural show in live streaming dedicated to the Vanvitelli Celebrations and Franco Zeffirelli.
Internationally renowned artists, great music and the best of dance in one of the most important royal residences in the world: these are the ingredients that make Un'Estate da RE unique, the event now in its eighth edition scheduled from 13 July to 3 August at the Reggia di Caserta.
Zucchero “Sugar” Fornaciari, Roberto Bolle and Plácido Domingo are the main protagonists of a program divided into four extraordinary events at affordable prices in the courtyards of the Royal Palace (about 3000 seats) and a special show, the inaugural one, dedicated to the architect Luigi Vanvitelli and Franco Zeffirelli, live streaming from the enchanting Palatine Chapel. A program that also has several surprises in store and that, this year too, promises to make the summer unforgettable for the thousands of spectators who will come to Caserta from all over Italy: fans of light music, opera and dance who will be able to admire the beauty of the Royal Palace through special guided tours, in the year of the Vanvitelli Celebrations (1773-2023).
Planned and financed by the Campania Region (POC 2014-2020 funds), organized and promoted by Scabec – regional company for the enhancement of cultural heritage – in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Management of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Municipality of Caserta and the Municipal Theater “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno, the review was presented this morning at the headquarters of the Campania Region, in Naples. Speakers included the mayor of Caserta Carlo Marino, the director of the Royal Palace of Caserta Tiziana Maffei, the artistic director of Un'Estate da RE Antonio Marzullo and the president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca.
It begins on July 13 with a suggestive and original show: Vanvitelli all'opera, a very musical (and hardly possible) interview with the great architect played by Mariano Rigillo, with Enzo Salomone in the role of Franco Zeffirelli the interviewer. The text by Stefano Valanzuolo makes use of the revisions and musical choices of Eugenio Ottieri, who select in the proposed listening the great musical passions of the illustrious architect in the Naples of his years. On the 250th anniversary of the death of Luigi Vanvitelli and the centenary of the birth of Franco Zeffirelli, the two artists are paid homage in the style of the famous “impossible radio interviews”, linked to the charm and craft of illustrious writers. On stage the “Giuseppe Verdi” Philharmonic Orchestra of Salerno conducted by Giuseppe Galiano and the solo voices of Bruno De Simone (baritone), Angelo Giordano (sopranist), Lorenzo Martelli (tenor) and Marilena Ruta (soprano). The event will be broadcast live on the Digital Ecosystem for Culture of the Campania Region (cultura.regione.campania.it) and on the social channels of Un'Estate da RE, the Campania Region and the Reggia di Caserta.
The program continues on July 22 with the Grande Danza: the Gala Roberto Bolle and Friends – produced by ARTEDANZASRL – arrives at the Reggia di Caserta to ignite the audience in an evening that brings together on the same stage the best protagonists of international dance. An unmissable opportunity to see a live performance by the étoile of two worlds, Roberto Bolle, with international dance stars, in a true journey through the beauty and magic of this art form.
Double date, July 24 and 25, with the World Wild Tour of Zucchero “Sugar” Fornaciari. Listed among the main exponents of blues in Italy, in the span of over thirty years of career he has achieved incredible commercial success selling more than 60 million records. His music has spread beyond national borders thanks to world tours and frequent collaborations with artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Miles Davis, BB King, Bono, Sting and Paul Young. In the double show at the Reggia di Caserta, Zucchero will bring his greatest hits.
The festival will end on August 3 with an extraordinary return: Plácido Domingo. Singer and conductor, tenor and baritone, an eclectic artist with over 150 roles sung and an extraordinary career that has continued uninterrupted for over half a century. Already the protagonist in 2020 of the V edition of Un'Estate da RE, the great Spanish tenor (among the stars of the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame) will give the audience deep and vibrant emotions through his voice, but not only... because he will conduct the Philharmonic Orchestra "Giuseppe Verdi" of Salerno and other great stars of music.
The approach to the VIII edition of Un'Estate da RE will begin on June 21, on the occasion of the Festa della musica, with special free guided tours with a musical theme at the Reggia di Caserta, every Friday and Saturday until the end of July.
Desired by the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca in 2016 to create an event that would simultaneously promote the UNESCO sites and the musical cultural tradition that in Campania boasts international excellence, Un'Estate da RE has taken root in the territory thanks to the success of past editions, which have seen the participation of world-famous artists such as Ennio Morricone, Riccardo Muti, Ezio Bosso, Jonas Kaufmann, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Oren, Antonio Pappano, Ludovico Einaudi, Stefano Bollani, Uto Ughi, Anna Netrebko, David Garrett, Claudio Baglioni. Over the years, the event has become an opportunity to relaunch culture, tourism and valorize Campania, giving everyone the opportunity to experience listening to great music and its extraordinary protagonists thanks to a low ticket price policy.
Tickets on sale June 8th.
Statements:
Vincenzo De Luca, President of the Campania Region: "There is satisfaction for this VIII edition of Un'Estate da RE, an event that I wanted with great determination in Caserta, in the Reggia, both to enhance this extraordinary monument and the Caserta area, and to have an additional tourist attraction in Campania in the summer period. This year too, it promises to be a beautiful edition, with Roberto Bolle, Zucchero, Plácido Domingo and the memory of the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli in his Reggia and on the anniversary of his death, with Mariano Rigillo who is a great artist of our territory. It will be an important event, a draw in our region and an opportunity for many to enjoy the beauty of the Reggia and magical evenings as has already happened in previous editions".
Tiziana Maffei, director of the Royal Palace of Caserta: “This is a special year. On July 13th we open Un'estate da Re with a tribute to Vanvitelli. Vanvitelli was a refined humanist, also capable of ensuring interdisciplinarity between the different expressions of art. Music was his great passion in its enjoyment as well as in the creation of magnificent spaces to welcome it, as demonstrated by the Court Theatre of the Reggia. Un'Estate da Re will therefore be an opportunity to talk about the great Maestro with different languages in the year of the celebrations dedicated to him 250 years after his death”.
Antonio Marzullo, artistic director of Un'Estate da RE: “This year we begin with a tribute to Vanvitelli to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his death and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Franco Zeffirelli. Afterwards, dance lovers and others will be able to witness the magic of Roberto Bolle's performances live. Then there will be a double date with Zucchero, one of the greatest international blues musicians. Finally, Plácido Domingo will sing and conduct the Salerno Philharmonic Orchestra, in an event that will give the public incredible surprises”.
The mayor of Caserta Charles Marino: “Un'Estate da Re is one of the great summer cultural events in Campania and is an important milestone for the city of Caserta. The cultural heritage sector networks with the great musical initiatives, thus contributing to building a real “Caserta model” for culture. I thank President De Luca who has believed in this model since 2016, which can be an important opportunity for the entire region”.
