On the Path of the Gods, on the Amalfi coast, a hiker was found lifeless after falling into a ravine, in the locality of Nocelle, in the municipality of Positano.
A 118 helicopter, the Felix 2 from Salerno, flew over the area to allow technicians from the Campania Alpine and Speleological Rescue to descend to the point where the woman was located, inside a ravine about one hundred meters high.
The men of the Campania Alpine and Speleological Rescue team, together with the firefighters of the SAF (Speleo Alpino Fluviale) unit, who descended into the valley from two different helicopters, identified her along the precipice indicated by the person who was with her.
The girl had fallen from a considerable height and had no escape. The recovery operations, coordinated by the personnel of the Territorial Operations Center of 118 of Salerno and Naples, lasted about two hours, and proved complex due to the difficulty in reaching the steep point where the girl had ended up.
The magistrate on duty has already been informed of the incident. Meanwhile, the safety conditions of the Sentiero degli Dei, annually trodden by thousands of tourists, many of whom are unaware of the dangers along the route, are back in the spotlight.
Last May 23, an American tourist fell from a low wall, again in Positano. He died 18 days later at the Ospedale del Mare in Naples due to the serious injuries he sustained.
