The technical surveys preparatory to the start of the construction sites in via Taverna del Ferro, in the San Giovanni a Teduccio district, eastern area of Napoli.
The urban redevelopment project, which involved the Taverna del Ferro Struggle Committee together with the Department of Urban Planning of the Municipality of Naples, is financed by Pui-Pnrr funds and is part of the Coordination and Technical Management Service of the Heritage of the Municipality of Naples.
The activity started from the northern part of the two blocks of the settlement: this is the first area affected by the project, where garages and sports facilities are located, and where the new housing envisaged by the work plan will be built.
“We are very happy that the works financed with PnrrR funds have also started in Taverna del Ferro, as well as in Scampia and Bipiani – explained the deputy mayor and councilor for urban planning Laura Lieto – in the past years we have worked hard to create a relationship of trust and collaboration with both residents and businesses, and now we are finally starting to enter the active process on the territory. It was a moment we were waiting for”.
Rosaria Cordone of the Taverna del Ferro Committee spoke of “a fundamental day, an event that we have been waiting for for 40 years. If we proceed concretely and quickly, this operation will be the achievement of a great result both for the Committee and for the municipal administration.
We are writing the history of this neighborhood, a history that the inhabitants will not easily forget because it is the result of great sacrifices and suffering felt in these 7 years of activity and struggle. We hope that a new phase will be given life”.
