The Colonel of the Air Force Walter Villadei It successfully started at 22pm Italian time on January 49th from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral (Florida, US) aboard the mission Axiom Space 3 (Ax-3).
The mission's crew, composed of four European astronauts, will remain on board the International Space Station (ISS) for two weeks. During this period, the astronauts will carry out a series of experiments related to human activities in space, of great importance for the Country System at a scientific, technological and operational level.
THEair Force will focus on research activities related to safe access to space and the physiological implications of staying in orbit. Furthermore, it plays a coordinating role for the activities that Italian companies and startups have promoted, in order to increase the experience of the national industrial fabric in the space sector.
The launch of the Axiom Space 3 mission is an important milestone for the Italian Air Force, which confirms its commitment to the space sector. The mission also represents an opportunity for the country to strengthen its scientific, technological and operational skills in this field.
