L’Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli di Napoli has launched a telemedicine project to offer patients specialist visits, remote monitoring, therapy management and psychological support without the need to go to the hospital.
The project will start for patients affected by rare diseases followed by the Coordination Center for Rare Diseases of the Campania Region, directed by Professor Giuseppe Limongelli, but will soon be extended to all users of the Hospital Trust.
To provide services, the Company will use the Sinfonia platform, created by the Campania Region.
Patients will be able to access the service through a referral from their general practitioner or pediatrician of their choice.
The user manual and the link to the platform are available on the Company's website, www.ospedalideicolli.it.
As part of the project, telemonitoring is already operational for patients with congenital heart disease at the Guch Center directed by Doctor Berardo Sarubbi.
Patients were provided with technological devices to monitor their vital signs and effectively manage their medical conditions.
“We work every day to improve the efficiency of our healthcare services,” said Anna Iervolino, General Manager of the Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli.
“We chose to start with patients with rare diseases because they often come from remote areas and travel long distances to access specialized care. With telemedicine, we bring the hospital to patients’ homes, improving their quality of life and supporting their caregivers.”
The advantages of telemedicine are many:
Reduction of waiting times for specialist visits.
Eliminate the costs and inconvenience of traveling to the hospital.
Improved access to care for patients living in remote areas.
Greater comfort and privacy for patients.
Ability to monitor patient conditions remotely.
Better management of therapies.
Reduction of the risk of hospitalization.
Telemedicine represents an important step forward in the modernization of the healthcare system and can help improve the quality of care for patients.
The Ospedale dei Colli in Naples is at the forefront of implementing this technology and represents an example to be followed by other healthcare facilities.
