“No to the stadium in Bagnoli”: this is the clear message conveyed through social media by the associations of the popular laboratory in response to the proposal put forward to the mayor Manfredi by the president of the Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis. The Iskra Political Laboratory expressed its opinion on this eventuality in a post, underlining that the statement by the president of SSC Napoli hides, in their opinion, the interest of a part of the city's entrepreneurs in being able to acquire the last piece of free land in the city.
This, according to the post, would represent an attempt to privatize portions of the coastline to be reclaimed and to propose “ports” in Nisida. The post continues by declaring that, faced with this provocation by De Laurentiis, the Iskra Political Laboratory will not remain passive.
They emphasize that Bagnoli will not become a sort of Dubai with 5-star hotels and maxi yachts. They remind Mayor Manfredi of the commitments made to the people of Bagnoli, demanding the removal of the landfill, which cannot be built on according to state law, and insisting on having a usable sea, a beach, green spaces and an urban park.
The requests continue with the hope of sustainable productive activities, social clauses for the unemployed in the area and sustainable tourism, excluding interests that could increase the already unaffordable rents and cause the emigration of the inhabitants. The post closes by stating that the time has come to put an end to the continuous declarations of interest of private individuals in Bagnoli.
They invite everyone to participate in a demonstration on March 20 in Via Verdi, on the occasion of the next City Council, to make the voices heard of those who have seen their families suffer due to illness, escape abroad, unemployment and broken promises, between pollution and delays in the use of public funding.
