Castellammare, the boss from prison gave orders for extortion: 11 arrests

From prison, the boss used an illegally smuggled telephone to give orders to his affiliates and indicate the names of the merchants from whom he would ask for the protection money and the amount.

The investigations, by the Naples Flying Squad and the police station of Castellammare, under the coordination of the Naples DDA, led this morning to a blitz in the Moscarella district with 11 precautionary measures.

Nine people were placed in prison custody, 1 under house arrest, 1 under the obligation to report to the judicial police. All were considered seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of the crimes of mafia-type association as well as extortion, attempted extortion, possession of weapons and possession for the purpose of drug dealing, aggravated by the mafia method and the purpose of facilitating the Camorra association called the Rione Moscarella clan, operating in the municipalities of Castellammare di Stabia, Pompei, S. Antonio Abate and surrounding areas.

In particular, during the investigations carried out by SISCO of Naples and SCO, with the operational support of the Naples Flying Squad, various extortion episodes were identified, carried out to the detriment of some commercial operators.

Furthermore, one of the suspects, although detained, allegedly maintained telephone contact with his accomplices, in order to plan and direct the extortion activities.

During the raid, several pistols, a machine gun, numerous bullets, drugs and also some video surveillance systems were recovered.
