The judge, while acknowledging the mitigating circumstances, held that the seriousness of the crime, aggravated by the woman's reduced condition, could not be compensated for.
The brother was sentenced to 9 months in prison (with probation) and a fine of 500 euros. He will also have to return the stolen money to his sister.
