A 49-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon in the Secondigliano neighborhood of Naples, after officers from the local police station discovered cocaine hidden in a pack of cigarettes. During a routine territorial control service in via Pacecco de Rosa, officers noticed an individual with suspicious behavior, who got rid of a pack of cigarettes by throwing it on the ground at the sight of the police.
The police promptly intercepted the man, recovering the package from which three packages containing cocaine were extracted. Suspecting that he might be hiding additional quantities of the substance, the officers subsequently searched the subject's home, finding 21 additional packages of cocaine carefully hidden, for a total weight of approximately 8 grams.
The 49-year-old, already known to the police for specific precedents, was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics. The case highlights the effectiveness of territorial control operations by the police in combating drug trafficking in the Neapolitan neighborhoods, in particular in Secondigliano, known for problems related to organized crime and drug trafficking.
