Illegal immigration in Salerno – The District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Salerno has issued precautionary measures against 16 people as part of an investigation into a criminal organization specializing in the production of false documents to facilitate the illegal entry and residence of non-EU citizens in Italy.
The order of the investigating judge of the Court of Salerno provides for the precautionary custody in prison for two suspects, house arrest for eleven and the obligation to remain in the place for three others. The suspects are accused, to varying degrees, of criminal association with the aim of committing crimes relating to immigration and falsification of documents, in addition to charges of devastation, arson and fraud against insurance companies.
The investigation has brought to light an organization rooted in the Piana del Sele, which allegedly used compliant employers and employment assistance centers to produce and submit false documentation, exploiting the flows decree and the regularization of irregular work in 2020.
