They allegedly committed dozens of scams on elderly people, often with pathologies and in physical conditions that made them more vulnerable. The Carabinieri of the Porta Portese station, on behalf of the Rome Prosecutor's Office, notified Giugliano in Campania of a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the GIP, against a 54-year-old man, accused of 19 criminal episodes.

In Naples, an order for the application of the precautionary measure of the obligation to remain in residence was notified to a 25-year-old, for a total of 42 episodes. The scams occurred in Lazio and Campania last year.
The investigations, started by a victim's complaint, have reconstructed the modus operandi of the two scammers. These would have used tricks such as the "fake nephew in financial difficulty", the "fake lawyer" or the "representative of the police force" to gain the trust of the elderly and, once at home, have them hand over money and jewelry.
The two committed 61 scams between Campania and Lazio
During the investigation, the Carabinieri made three arrests in flagrante delicto. In the house of one of the arrested, telephone directories from various provinces of Italy, cell phones used to contact the victims and ten thousand euros in cash were found. The investigations reconstructed a turnover of approximately 500.000 euros.
